Top Snowboard Events 2012-2013

Each season, competitive snowboarders become accustomed to life on the road as they travel the world on the professional contest circuit, known as the World Snowboard Tour. They catch early flights, live out of board-bags, weather long layovers, eat foreign foods, and endure unpredictable conditions as they pursue their dream.

The competitive season runs from December through April and is stacked with elite events that are ranked from one to six stars. These events offer riders the chance to earn points toward the international ranking system, which dictates standings and contest eligibility.

In conjunction with earning points and providing a place to prove oneself, these events are also the way many riders earn their paychecks.

Top-ranked events are important for fans, as well, as they provide an arena to cheer on favorite riders and create an atmosphere that pushes the overall progression of the sport.

With the highly anticipated Winter Olympics just over a year away, the competitive season of 2012 to 2013 is guaranteed to be one of the most progressive to date. In other words, the world’s best riders will battle it out for the top-seeded spot on the World Snowboard Tour as they set their sights on attending the Sochi Games in 2014.
